Adult Services supports and advises disabled people who want to develop their skills and find employment opportunities. You will need a needs assessment by social services to access these services:

  • WorkFirst helps disabled people find work
  • Capability's is a coffee shop and print shop offering people with disabilities or mental health problems opportunities to develop their skills and experiences and get training and qualifications in a realistic workplace

WorkStep helps disabled people and people with long term health problems to find and stay in paid employment.  You do not need a needs assessment for Workstep.

Palatine Bed Factory, Westerhope, is managed by Newcastle City Council and employs disabled people through the WorkStep programme

You can also contact the Disability Employment Advisers at Job Centre Plus or get more advice from the DWP Jobcentre Pus web site.
