All Councils have been set a target of raising the standard of all its properties by the year 2010 by the Government. Improvements should include double-glazed windows, replacement kitchens and bathrooms, and updated heating systems.
Newcastle’s biggest ever housing improvement programme is going ahead after we secured a 2 star rating from government inspectors. The achievement has unlocked £348m of extra government funding that we will use to ensure that all 32,000 homes will meet the Decent Homes Standard by 2010.
