Advice and Support Services

CAB logo - A free information and advice service that helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems

Crisis Logo - A national charity for homeless people.  Crisis aims to fight homelessness and empower people to fulfil their potential and transform their lives.

Groundswell logo - A national charity that supports a network of people and projects who are committed to inclusive approaches to tackling homelessness, poverty and exclusion.

Homeless Link - A national membership body for organisations supporting homeless people and working to end homelessness across England and Wales. 

Mesmac logo - Gay and bisexual men's community support service covering the North East of England.

Missing PeopleMissing People - the UK's only charity that works with young runaways, missing and unidentified people, their families and others who care for them.

Relate Logo - Advice, relationship counselling, sex therapy, workshops, mediation consultations and support, face-to-face, by phone and through their website.

Shelter logo- Helps people fight for their rights, get back on their feet, and find and keep a home.  They also campaign for new laws, policies and solutions.  Shelter's Get Advice web pages are available at http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice  and are full of information for anyone with a housing-related problem.

SITRA logo - A voluntary agency and registered charity that offers policy advice, training, consultancy and support services on issues connected with the provision of supported housing and care.

Big Issue logo - Providing opportunities for people facing homelessness to help themselves.

Day Centres

Joseph Cowen Health Centre - Offers a drop in service for anyone who is homeless or in temporary accommodation and not registered with a GP.

People's Kitchen - Provide shelter, free food and companionship for homeless people

Ron Eager House - A safe environment in which vulnerable people can receive valuable help, advice and support.

Domestic Violence

Advice now - independent, accurate, up-to-date information on rights and legal issues.

Lifeline - Helps all victims of domestic violence, sexual, physical and mental abuse and incest.

Male Victims of Domestic Violence - A UK based Domestic Abuse site specifically for male victims and survivors.

Women's Aid - A national domestic violence charity which co-ordinates and supports a network of over 300 local projects in England, providing over 500 refuges, helplines, outreach services and advice centres.

Alcoholics Anonymous - A fellowship of people who share their experience, and help others to recover from alcoholism.

FRANK logo - A free confidential drug information and advice service.

Narcotics Anonymous - Support for drug users.

NECA logo- Support, infomation and advice services around addiction. 

PROPS - Support and advcie for the families and carers of problematic drug/alcohol misusers.

Body Positive North East - Information and advice around sexual health problems.

Family Planning Association logo - The Family Planning Association are working to improve the sexual health of all people throughout the UK.

British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD) - Committed to improving the quality of life for people with learning disabilities.

Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities - Promoting the rights, quality of life and opportunities of people with learning disabilities and their families.

MENCAP logo - Offer advice and information on housing, jobs, benefits and local services for people with learning disabilities.

Mental Health Foundation - Aiming to help people survive, recover from and prevent mental health problems.

Richmond Fellowship logo - The Richmond Fellowship are one of the biggest providers of mental health care in the country through providing housing, care and support for adults with mental health problems.

Young People

Barnardos - Helps the most vulnerable children and young people transform their lives.

Brook - Advice for young people on contraception, sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancy.

 Children's Society logo - A national charity working with children and teenagers in England.  Provides pratical help, support and advice through various projects.

Connexions logo- Confidential advice, support and information for 13 - 19 year olds.

Depaul Nightstop - Provide safe emergency accomodation for homeless young people (aged 16-25) in the homes of approved volunteers.

Outpost - A project that helps young lesbians and young gay men (aged 16-25) who are homeless or have a housing need.

Weyes - A project that offers information and support to young people (aged 11-25) who live in the West End of Newcastle.
