Q. How do I arrange a Bulky Collection?
A
. You can now book your bulky collection online or contact Envirocall,  we will tell you your collection date and be happy to answer any further queries. We only provide bulky collections for the residents of Newcastle upon Tyne.

QWhat does it involve?
A. Neighbourhood Services provides a special collection service for householders to ask for the removal of additional household waste - over and above the weekly domestic refuse collection service.  With effect from 1st April 2011 we will charge £15.00 for each bulky collection.

To ensure maximum efficiency, we ask that at all times:

  • All loose items, garden waste and rubble must be bagged, with any loose timber or branches bound together.
  • All items that are for removal need to be listed. This is to avoid any items being taken by mistake.
  • The collection will take place from the most accessible point of the property, usually your wheelie bin collection point. In the majority of cases throughout the City, this will be the front of your property.
  • Please ensure that items are left for collection at the edge of your property and do not leave them on roads or pathways. For insurance reasons Neighbourhood Services staff cannot enter houses or garages; all items must be left outside.
  • We also ask that items are placed out no sooner than the night before your collection is due, and not blocking the public highway. Collections begin early in the morning and continue until early evening.

Q. Are there any costs?

With effect from 1st April 2011 we will charge £15.00 for each bulky collection.  Refunds can only be given if the cancellation is received at least 48 working hours before the booked collection day.

You can still take these items free of charge to the Household Waste Recycling Centres.  If you want to use a van, pick up truck, trailer or vehicle with a business logo to take items to the Household Waste Recycling Centres you'll need a permit.
