Personal capability assessment activities and descriptors
The personal capability assessment looks at a person's functional ability to carry out a number of activities. These activities are broken down into a series of descriptors which list different aspects of each activity. The descriptors allocate points according to the degree of difficulty a claimant has in carrying out each activity.
There are separate lists of activities and descriptors for physical disabilities and mental disabilities. The points and scoring system works differently for each. Details:

Incapacity benefits are replaced for new claims from 27 October 2008 by Employment and Support Allowance .
