Advice services listed - clarification

Our lists of advice services in Newcastle and the North East of England

The advice services listed are 'not for profit' organisations.  They give benefit and/or debt advice that is free and independent of the Department for Work and Pensions and Revenue and Customs.

Their main service is benefit and debt advice and usually includes advocacy and representation.  For example, from helping claim a benefit to representing a claimant at a tribunal.  We cannot guarantee the quality of service provided by the listed organisations.

It is important that people get free and independent benefit and debt advice and this is an attempt to list the services that provide it in the North East.

As accurate as possible

We have obtained this information directly from the organisations, including their websites.

We try to keep the details up to date and accurate but it is important that you check with the organisation directly either by telephone or visiting their website. For example, local Citizens Advice Bureaux can be found by visiting their website and searching their 'get advice' page. Many of the other organisations we list are Welfare Rights services, which are part of local councils. To get direct information about them, either ring the council or visit their website. Usually, the council will have an area in their website which details their Welfare Rights service. The simplest way to find a council on the internet is by typing in the name of a council, followed by 'council' in a search engine, such as google
