What is Heritage Open Days

Heritage Open Days is the nation's biggest and most popular free celebration of architecture, history and culture. The weekend of heritage is a part of European Heritage Days, a Council of Europe initiative, where 48 countries allow the public a chance to visit heritage sites that are either not usually open to the public or would normally charge an entrance fee. Heritage Open Days also includes tours, events and activities that focus on local architecture, history and culture. Heritage Open Days is co-ordinated nationally by The Civic Trust with core funding from English Heritage plus the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, the Council of Europe and The History Channel.

Last year’s event was a huge success. So help us make this years even better.
