Technical Services

Technical Services is the newly formed division of Environment and Regeneration Directorate that brings together all of the Council’s technical and professional resources for highways, civil engineering and building design.

The division commissions, procures and delivers highway services, and commissions and procures building construction work. It also provides or commissions technical advice and input to major capital investment projects such as Private Financial Initiatives, as well as to regeneration programmes.

Technical Services has around 450 staff with a budget of over £13 million. About 300 of the staff will be professional and technical specialists. The division delivers revenue works of approximately £6.5 million per annum, relating to the maintenance of highways, bridges, street lights and traffic signals.
