East Pilgrim Street - Regeneration Opportunity Area

Photograph of building on Pilgrim StreetThe East Pilgrim Street area is a crucial regeneration priority located at the heart of the City Centre next to the shopping core. The area represents an opportunity to create a distinctive new retail led mixed use quarter of the City Centre.

In order to inform development of this important area, the City Council are in the process of preparing Interim Planning Guidance (IPG). As part of this process extensive consultation was carried out from late October 2008 to November 2008 on the Preferred Option Report. The Preferred Option Report detailed previous public consultation, explained how the consulted high level optionswere developed and the analysis which has led to the selection of the Preferred Option. A feedback report on this consultation is now available (pdf, 4Mb).

Next Steps

Over the next few months Interim Planning Guidance will be developed, to provide a framework for the development of the East Pilgrim Street area in line with the Preferred Option. This guidance will also be subject to further public consultation in the new year.
