The local authority maintains a register of declared contaminated land and has a strategy for the inspection of the City to identify sites of significant concern. Where necessary action is taken to remediate contaminated land either directly by the Council or through the development control process. Enforcement action can also be taken against the person responsible for causing the pollution.
