The Voluntary Sector Reference Group provides support to the voluntary sector representatives on the C&YPSP Executive. It also provides a voluntary sector view and influence on the development of policy within the Children and Young People's Strategic Partnership. The group is supported by the Regeneration Forum through the Newcastle Council for Voluntary Service. Meetings are open to all voluntary sector organisations operating in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Aims
To be an independent forum able to provide a Voluntary Sector view and influence on policies and strategies developed by partnerships or networks that contribute to Every Child Matters outcomes
To provide strategic support to Voluntary Sector Representatives on multi sector partnerships within Newcastle upon Tyne that contribute to Every Child Matters outcomes.
To raise awareness of the Voluntary Sector contribution to Every Child Matters
Objectives
The Reference Group will provide a means for addressing matters arising out of partnerships or networks that contribute to Every Child Matters outcomes and enable Voluntary Sector organisations to respond to specific policy or srategy documents in support of Voluntary Sector representatives.
The Reference Group will complement but not duplicate the work of other Voluntary Sector networks and forums.
The Reference Group will seek to work with the Newcastle Children and Young Peoples Strategic Partnership, The Local Safeguarding Children’s Board and other bodies implementing Every Child Matters, National Service Framework for Children or any associated policies

Membership is open to any Voluntary Sector organisation operating within Newcastle upon Tyne with an interest or involvement in the outcomes of Every Child Matters or associated policies. The Reference Group will be supported by the Regeneration Forum as part of its role to support Voluntary Sector engagement and representation to the Newcastle Partnership. Support will include distributing materials to the Reference Group, arranging Reference Group meetings and producing and distributing notes from Reference Group meetings.
