Thankyou to everyone who took part in the annual survey in October 2006.
The survey was undertaken across all the City’s Libraries and visitors were asked to complete a questionnaire to assess their level of satisfaction with the service. 2403 adult questionnaires and 748 child questionnaires were completed and analysed.

Despite the temporary closure of City Library and Gosforth Library we've met 9 out of 10 National Public Library Service Standards this year and improved our performance for PLSS 2, 8, 9 and 10.
With 19 branches across the City you’re never far from a library.
PLSS 1: Percentage of households living within 1 mile of a library*
national target = 95%

We’ve increased our opening hours to suit you.

We have 217 People’s Network computers with FREE internet access.

There were over 1½ million visits to Newcastle libraries last year.

You rate this library service as one of the best in the country.

The only standard we don't meet is PLSS 5, the number of book requests met. This standard is in 3 parts and although we've increased the number of requests met with in 7 and 15 days we still just miss the target for 30 days.
