What do we provide?

We visit 700 Newcastle residents in their own homes.

  • We visit 120 residential homes, sheltered accommodation and day centres.
  • We visit once every 4 weeks to change your books.
  • We have a large collection of large print books and books on tape.
  • We offer a free request service. Just ask your library assistant when they call. 
  • We have community and welfare information in print and on tape.
  • We can lend specially designed reading lamps.
  • We have "Memory Boxes" made up of photographs, memorabilia and books to support reminiscence.
  • We produce a newsletter called "The Home Front", which includes news, views and information by and for our customers. 

 

Who can use the service?

Anyone living in Newcastle who can't visit the library because they are ill or, because they are careing for someone else.

 

How to apply

  • Contact us by phone, fax or email or contact your local library.
  • We will make an appointment to visit you to find out your needs.
