In April 2004 the Council published and invited comments on its LDF Key Issues Report “Planning Newcastle”. This was followed up by a report to Executive summarising findings, in September 2004. This consultation was not a formal part of the new plan, as it pre-dated the Act. Its purpose was to raise public awareness and promote discussion of city-wide planning issues, and to pave the way for the new plan. The response to this consultation has provided much useful information and comment, and has influenced priorities in the Local Development Scheme.
