North Jesmond has a vibrant community and has busy shopping areas on Acorn Road, St George’s Terrace, Brentwood Avenue and Manor House Road. The ward also has extensive range of bars and restaurants on Osborne Road.
Community facilities for North Jesmond include the Library, Swimming Pool and Post Office which are all situated on St George’s Terrace. The ward also has a number of privately run tennis clubs.
The ward has two schools, West Jesmond Primary and La Sagesse High.
The west of the ward includes an area of the Town Moor while the east is bordered by Jesmond Dene Park.
There are a number of allotments in the ward at South Highbury, Forsyth Road and Jesmond Dene Road. North Jesmond is also the location for the County Tennis Ground on North Jesmond Avenue.
North Jesmond is served by two Metro stations. West Jesmond Metro Station lies within the ward and Jesmond Metro station is close by in South Jesmond ward. The city centre is within easy walking distance.
The boundary starts at the footbridge on the junction at Jesmond Dene Road and heads west along Jesmond Dene Road to the flyover. The boundary then runs down North Road and cuts east, via St. Andrew’s and Jesmond Cemetery, to link with Tankerville Terrace. It then heads south to Newcastle Church High School and eastwards to Haldene Court. The boundary runs around Haldene Court, then heads north up Osborne Road, turning east down Fern Avenue. It continues along Fern Avenue, through Gowan Terrace, then heads south along Manor House Road to Buston Terrace. Finally, the boundary swings north around the perimeter of Welburn Park up onto Jesmond Dene Road.
