May 2009 saw the annual Apprentice Awards at the Mansion House, Jesmond. The award ceremony is held in memory of the late Councilor Bob Brown. The awards celebrate the achievement of the Environment & Regeneration Directorate learners for their hard work and commitment. It was a difficult task choosing between the nominations, but after much deliberation the winners were as follows:
