How to get to Benwell Nature Park

By foot or car

From the West Road


From the traffic lights at the junction of West Road and Condercum Road, head down Condercum Road and then Atkinson Road, taking you through two sets of traffic lights. Immediately after passing the second set of lights you will see a small road leading off to your left, opposite Atkinson Road Primary School and Nursery. This is Pipetrack Lane and the entrance to Benwell Nature Park is approximately 15 metres in on the right.

From Scotswood Road


From Scotswood Road head up Whitehouse Road, at the mini-roundabout. Take the first right onto Atkinson Road. Continue up the hill on Atkinson Road over another mini-roundabout. Immediately before the traffic lights at the junction of Atkinson Road and Benwell Lane/Adelaide Terrace you will see a small road on your right, directly opposite Atkinson Road Primary School. This is Pipetrack Lane and the entrance to Benwell Nature Park is approximately 15 metres in on the right.

For pedestrians there is a separate entrance into the car park directly off Atkinson Road. It is not suitable for wheelchair users or for those with mobility problems who should use the access off Pipetrack Lane.

By Bus

The number 1 stops on Armstrong Road just above the park.Several buses stop on Scotswood Road including the 8, 21, 22, 80, 602, 604, 610, 611, 632 and 633.  From Scotswood Road there is a steep walk up Whitehouse Road and Atkinson Road which will bring you to the park.
