U-CAN Project
What is it?
The U-CAN (Careers and New Skills) project is a free 4 week course focusing on improving skills like C.V. and letter writing, job search skills, completing application forms and how to improve interview and confidence skills.
The first 3 weeks are made up of the NCFE Certificate in Employment Skills and a unit of the NOCN Progression Award.
This will be followed by an additional week (4 weeks in total) of training focused around particular employment areas such as Hospitality, Care, Retail and IT. For example a qualification in Food Hygiene will be offered to any learners participating in U-CAN. We will also offer additional support in Literacy and Numeracy through our Skills for Life Team.
Where is it running?
Currently we are running the U-CAN Project at West Gate Community Complex, West Road, Newcastle. We are looking to expand this across other parts of Newcastle.
Partnerships
We are currently working with Newcastle Futures to enable ongoing support for learners once they have completed the 4 week programme.
For more information on U-CAN please phone the team on 0191 286 3456 or 07817 555 773.
