The 16+ Team provides a dedicated service to looked after children over 16 years and care leavers. They also have a responsibility to provide support and advice to those children up to the age of 21 and to 24 for those in further education. The team will also have responsibility for unaccompanied minors.

You can make an appointment with a social worker by contacting our customer service point on Mondays to Thursdays from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm and Fridays from 2.00 pm to 4.30 pm.
If you contact the team outside these hours, or a social worker is not available, we will get back to you later the same day or the next day. If your child is in hospital you can contact your social work team at the hospital. If you need urgent help with social care for any child during the evening or weekends phone 0191 232 8520 and ask for the Emergency Duty Team.
