The Council's Corporate Procurement Team is responsible for coordinating procurement activity to ensure compliance with the Procurement Rules, as well as national and European law.
The council spends approximately £765 million each year. £420 million of this is influential spend relating to goods, services and works. £25 million of this is currently procured collaboratively through the North East Purchasing Organisation.
The Corporate Procurement Team helps us to achieve value for money, and look for continuous improvement, in both the processes we follow, and the goods, services and works we procure.
They can provide advice and guidance to staff, as well as to those outside of the Council who wish to do business with us. This website has guidance and information relating to our current and future procurement activity and the processes and rules we follow.
