Please quote your twelve digit council tax account number to make sure your payment is allocated to your account and avoid the possibility of a reminder. This can be found under your address on your council tax bill.
Direct debit is the easiest and most convenient way to pay and you have all the control. It is also very cost effective for the council which in turn helps us keep council tax low. You need a Bank or Building Society account and all you have to do is fill in a Direct Debit application form or phone us on 0191 278 7878 and set up your instruction over the phone.
You can even choose when we take the money from your account with a choice of the following dates - weekly or fortnightly payments on a Monday or Friday or any day from 1st to 28th for monthly payments.
You can set up a Standing Order with your Bank. They will give you a form to fill in which you will need to complete quoting the monthly payments specified on your council tax bill.
You can pay by cash or cheque at the Post Office, or by cash only at any PayPoint outlet in places like shops and local garages.

You can send us your regular payment by cheque or postal order. Please do not send cash in the post. Make the cheque or postal order payable to Newcastle City Council and write your council tax twelve digit account number and first line of your address on the back.
